Gathered around the cross, the disciples and others who encountered Jesus reflect on the powerful events of that week—sharing the elation, fear, sadness, anger, and hope they experienced along the way. Through their stories, we are invited to remember the sacrifice of the cross and the promise that followed.

Ash Wednesday (March 6) marks the beginning of the Lenten season that precedes Easter. For centuries, Christians have marked their foreheads with the ashes of burnt palm fronds to acknowledge our dependence upon God for life and salvation.
First UMC of Hammonton will observe Ash Wednesday with Pastor Tiffany providing “Ashes to Go” (ashes with a brief prayer) from 1pm to 6:00pm. There will also be a reflective Prayer opportunity if you would like to participate before receiving ashes during these times. For those who would like to sit and pray awhile the sanctuary will be open, for those who need to head out to work or other activities that is okay too.
ALL ARE WELCOME to receive ashes. You do not have to be a member of attending Hammonton UMC.
